Privacy

This page describes, plainly, what this site stores and what it asks of you. It covers only what the site actually does.

Essential cookies

These keep the gallery working and are always on. They contain no name, email or other personal details.

gallery_consent
Remembers your cookie choices (which categories you allowed, when, and under which version of this notice). Kept for about six months, then you are asked again.
gallery_vid
A random visitor number, set when you make a cookie choice or choose to keep your private selection with the gallery. It links those records together. Not readable by page scripts; kept for twelve months.
atelier_admin
Only for gallery staff signed in to the administration area. Visitors never receive it.

Works you set aside in your private selection are kept in your own browser (local storage, gallery-selection-v1) and are not sent to the gallery unless you choose to.

Optional cookies

Analytics — off unless you switch it on. When on, it may load an analytics service to understand, in aggregate, how works are discovered. At present no analytics service is configured, so nothing is loaded even if you opt in.

Marketing — off unless you switch it on. Never required to view the gallery.

With either of these on, campaign details in the link that brought you here (the utm_ parameters, such as the name of a newsletter) are kept for this browser session only (session storage, gallery_utm) and sent along with a form you choose to submit. With both off, they are not kept, and they are removed when you withdraw consent.

Every choice you make, including a change of mind, is recorded with its date and the notice version, linked only to the random visitor number above.

What the forms collect

Inquiries — your name and email; optionally a telephone number, country, city and preferred way to be answered; your message; and the work it concerns, if any. These are used to answer you, and nothing more unless you tick the separate box described below.

The collector list — your name, email and any interests you choose. Joining the list is your agreement to receive occasional emails about new works and first viewings; the form says so beside the button.

Each form also notes where it was sent from (for example the homepage or a work’s page). To prevent abuse, submissions are briefly counted per connection using a one-way hash of your IP address.

Email is a separate choice

Sending an inquiry never adds you to a mailing list. The box “Also receive first viewings of new works” on the inquiry form is always unticked; only if you tick it are you added. Each permission is recorded with its date and the form it came from.

Changing your mind

You can change your cookie choices at any time with “Privacy choices” at the foot of every page. To leave the collector list, withdraw an email permission, or ask what is held about you, write to inquire@alkayan.art.
